The Variety Mini Expander consists of a stainless steel two-legged expansion screw that is soldered to bands on the first molars and .040 wire contoured up to the first bicuspids.  The compact size of the screw and low profile design allows deeper placement into the palate for patient comfort and the ability to use mandibular expansion.  For additional stability, rests can be added to the first bicuspids on lower expansion appliances.  The expansion screw is available in 8mm and 12mm, as well as standard and ratcheting designs.

For additional stability, rests can be added to the first bicuspids on lower expansion appliances.  The expansion screw is available in 8mm and 12mm, as well as standard and ratcheting designs.

The Quad-Helix appliance is most commonly fabricated for controlled-force treatment to the upper arch.  This appliance can be used to treat unilateral or bilateral crossbites, lateral expansion of the posterior segments, or aligning teeth that are overcrowded.  This appliance is available in both a fixed design, which is soldered directly to bands, or a removable design in conjunction with lingual sheaths soldered to bands.  Activation of the appliance can be made using a triple-beak pliers.

The Haas RPE (per Dr. AJ Haas) is a hybrid appliance consisting of a stainless steel expansion screw and acrylic on each side of the upper vault.  For anchorage, an .040 wire is soldered to bands on the 2nd bicuspids and first molars and embedded into the palatal acrylic.  Buccal bars are soldered to the bands for stability.  The acrylic design allows equal pressure to be distributed on the palatal tissue and teeth.  Design shown has soldered rests added (optional).

The E-Arch is a fixed expander designed for slow expansion of either the maxillary or mandibular arches.  The framework is constructed using .036 stainless steel round wire that is inserted into round tubing on the adjacent side.  Expansion is achieved using an open-coil spring that is placed over the wire and pushes against the tubing without the need for manual expansion.  This expansion device is ideal when patient or parent compliance is a concern.

The Porter W-Arch is an designed with .036 chrome-cobalt wire for arch expansion, molar rotation, fan-type expansion, and arch constriction.  This appliance can be applied to both the maxillary (Porter) and mandibular (Frozat) arches.
